It’s Not His House Party
The Dreamer is in an unknown house.
He is taking control of a house party that was out of control, but not his to control. His Mother-in-law Marie is burning food on the stove because she was not paying enough attention. The Dreamer scolds his Mother-in-law. The Mother-in-law’s friend Becky tells the Dreamer to “leave it alone”. The dish turned out fine.
Then, there are two young women in front of the Dreamer in the kitchen. They would like something to drink. He thinks they are ugly and treats them harshly. He gives them a drink, but they know he is rude, and they walk away in disgust.
Context: I’ve just spent time with my mother-in-law Marie and her friend Becky. Marie and Becky are both late 70s women.
Associations: My Mother-in-law Marie is sweet, but absent-minded. Her friend Becky means business, but is kind.
