Put Your Money Where Your

(vague recollection)

The Dreamer is outside and it’s dark.

The Dreamer meets an unknown college-aged Young Woman, brunette. They become romantically involved. There is an air of disapproval. Then the Dreamer is inside of a school: the school is a meditation cult. The Dreamer and the Young Woman are intentionally separated. The Dreamer is trying to get back to the Young Woman, but the school places certain assignments between them.

(clear recollection)

Then the Dreamer is inside of the school. The school system announces a ritual game will be played. The Dreamer understands that it is a romantic pairing ritual, and that each side is supposed to dress in. specific costume, but he does not own a costume and he does not know the mechanics or rules of the game. Then the Dreamer goes outside, to the city, to find the costume. He finds a billboard for a shop that professes to carry the item, but he cannot read the directions and does not know how to get to the shop. Then the Dreamer returns to the school. He sees the other male students dressed in the proper attire, beige silk suits. The other students quietly mock him because he is not dressed appropriately. The Dreamer complains that he does not know the rules of the game, and is begging other students to teach him how to play, but the other students have been instructed by faculty not to share the details. Then the Dreamer is given a costume: it is a flannel robe. Then the Dreamer sees a player from the female side who is also wearing the same robe. It is his employee, Caroline. Then the Dreamer pulls out a big wad of U.S. Dollars. There is a student who looks interested in the money. The Dreamer considers bribery. Then the Dreamer stuffs the money in his own mouth. He is weighing whether to offer a bribe to the learn the rules of the game.

Context: My wife and I were recollecting to a group of people how we met yesterday and I joked that we met in college in a “meditation cult”. My wife and I wore flannel robes when we were on vacation together in Vermont.

Associations: My employee Caroline is from Vermont. Also “put your money where your mouth is”.

Feelings: romance, frustration, ostracization, fairness

Interpretation: This is a dream about an attitude toward romance with the wife. The Dreamer is trying to “get back” to the “young woman”, his days of young romance with the wife. He thinks that he needs the right clothes, or that he can use his money (for bribery). The Dreammaker suggests that the attitude represented by the “plaid robes” (in Vermont) might be a better solution.
