Empty Locker
The Dreamer is in a gym changing room with lockers. He puts his valuable rings inside of locker number 8. Then the Dreamer returns to the locker, but it is open and empty. Then someone tries to help the Dreamer. Then the Dreamer sees his college friend Drew Burquist in the locker room. Then Drew has an emerald ring that looks like the Dreamer’s, but isn’t his.
Context: This is somewhat of a continuation of the luxury motif and theme of muscularity (Dreamer is at the gym)
Associations: I associate my emerald and ruby rings with value. I am sometimes afraid I am going to misplace them. I associate the number eight with the personal unconscious. It is one of my favorite numbers. I associate Drew Burquist with bipolar disorder: he was openly bipolar. I associate emerald with Mercury, the planet of rapid change.
Feelings: fear
Interpretation: This is a dream about changing an attitude toward what is valuable. The Dreamer has these valuable rings that he puts in his locker, but then the locker is empty. Then his bipolar college friend Drew Burquist has the emerald. The Dreammaker is suggesting that the material thing is an “empty value”, that perhaps there is more value in mental change.
