Mooji
The Dreamer is in the basement of a college lecture hall. His childhood friend Alex is there. There is a presentation projected on the ceiling. The voiceover is telling a story about a future where there is a new world built on an atomic level based on capitalism. Then the presentation turns to the Dreamer, and it asks him a question: “what is a Moojie?” The Dreamer says he has never heard of a Moojie. The presenter gets angry and says the Dreamer should know what a Moojie is if he is a Chicagoan. Then the Dreamer is in another room. The students have beer in front of them. The Dreamer takes the beer and shakes it up and throws it into the fireplace. He says to hell with capitalism. The beer explodes upward into the chimney.
Then the Dreamer is in a line, within a bright and all-white space (white walls, white floor, white ceiling). The Dreamer has just been granted admittance through a turn-style gate. He is waiting for two unknown women to also gain admittance. The women tell him to go ahead, but he says he will wait. He waits, and waits, with patience and desire. Then one of the unknown women is granted admittance. The whites of her eyes begin to change color: from white to red, dark purple, like dark red wine. Then the Dreamer and her embrace on an escalator, going up. When they embrace, she has the tongue of a serpent.
Then the Dreamer is in the topmost row in an auditorium. His childhood classmate Kate is there. Kate is wearing a dark red linen shirt. The Dreamer is wearing the same shirt. They begin to discuss the linen shirt, it’s thickness and so on. The Dreamer helps Kate with a button that she was having trouble with. Then the Dreamer’s Mother in Law appears, sopping wet, in a bathing suit. The Dreamer says you are sopping wet. She says yes the pool did not have any towels.
Then the Dreamer is in a bathroom stall, in a men’s locker room. An unknown man comes into the Dreamer’s stall. He has a knife. He hands the Dreamer the knife. The Dreamer cuts him down the middle of his chest and then spins the unknown man around and stabs him in the back, all the while there is upbeat musical score playing in the background and the Dreamer is singing his actions as if it were an upbeat musical, or a nursery rhyme, “Take a knife, split him down the chest, and stab him in the back.”
Then the Dreamer is in a crowded marketplace. An Arab man approaches the Dreamer and tells him that it would be better to feed people now rather than wait until later.
Then the Dreamer is looking at his feet. His feet have channels in them, as if they were shoes. There is beach sand and rock in the channels. The Dreamer cleans the channels out.
Context:
Motifs: Snake woman, knife, Arab
Associations: College setting reminded me of the college lecture hall where I learned about Maharishi; I had a superior feeling in the dream, standing up for something; I have never heard of Mooji, but I looked him up and he is a real spiritual teacher; capitalism, corruption; Alex, not that smart; Kate, learning disability (she was a student with dyslexia); Mother in Law, learning disability; sand in my feet, something unclean, wrong.
Feelings: pride, lust, superiority, humility
Interpretation: This is a dream about intellectual superiority; the Dreammaker is suggesting that the Dreamer’s negative attitude began in grammar school, around the time of the friend (Alex) and the class mate (Kate) and was constellated strongly in college; what began as a difference has become a “blood lust”, which the Dreamer thinks is fun (a’la musical), but it is in fact harmful (murders the other). The Dreammaker is suggesting a humbler attitude (grains of sand, feet, feeding people) is necessary.
Post script: I was not aware of anyone named “Mooji”, but I found that there exists a contemporary spiritual teacher by that name. I wonder what he has to say.
