I Want You
The Dreamer is inside a collegiate setting.
He is sitting next to an aquaintance from college, Genevra Daly. They are flirting. Genevra expresses surprise about the Dreamers advances. Then they stand and begin to kiss. Then Genevra has the head of a serpent and kisses the Dreamer with a long tongue and says “I want you”.
Then the Dreamer is inside of his friend Ted’s house. Ted is showing the Dreamer a device that he made to filter indoor air quality in places with poor air quality. The Dreamer is exploring the mechanics of the device. The Dreamer doubts some aspect of its construction, whether it is right. Ted explains why he made it that way and shows evidence of his correct reason.
Then the Dreamer is inside of a sporting goods store. There is an unknown black male shopkeeper. The Dreamer asks to see a golf club. The shopkeeper shows the Dreamer the club with too much enthusiasm. Then the Dreamer tells his Wife, I like this guy. Then the shopkeeper shows the Dreamer a pair of exclusive golf shoes that look more like Michael Jordan basketball shoes.
Context: Ted does live in a town that is known for having pollution from nearby KAFO operations. I have recently started a golf hobby, and just got my golf clubs yesterday.
Motifs: The character of Ted, creative, tinkerer. Black man, shadow.
Associations: Genevra Daly, artist; indoor air quality, pollution; Michael Jordan, childhood.
Feelings: attraction, repulsion, enthusiasm
Interpretation: This is a dream to restore balance to the psyche with respect to feeling and judging functions. The Dreamer is as yet ambivalent about his relationship to the feeling function and artistic side of his personality; it is a chthonic, passionate, side that is a little repulsive to ordinary consciousness. The Dreamer is exploring the judging function and, of course, as a dominant INTP thinks that he already knows how it works, but does not really yet understand the inner mechanics. The Dreamer is a little too eager to take on a new persona with golf as a hobby, he “likes how that athletic persona looks on him”, but the Dreammaker is suggesting that it would be best to temper that childlike, imitative, enthusiasm. No need to add more shade to the unconscious situation.
