Nine Propositions

Speculations on consciousness as a universal phenomenon:

  1. Suppose a steady state universe

  2. Suppose the state is informational

  3. Given propositions 1&2, assume an intrinsically multimodal dynamic

  4. Suppose emergent symbolic differentiation as necessary to the stability of the phenomenon

  5. Suppose a stable instance requires paradoxical initial conditions — actually bounded and theoretically boundless

  6. Suppose boundary growth as a goal, increasing quantities of differentiated informational material

  7. Suppose replication as a goal for the discovered mechanisms of successful differentiation

  8. Suppose redundancy as a goal, such that multiple pathways to differentiation are encouraged

  9. Suppose approximation of the whole as the hypothetically never-ending end-goal of the instance
