Tickets

The Dreamer is hovering in the air and has a golden sensation all around his body. Then the Dreamer is in a room with his employee Erika. They are debating creative options for an issue of the magazine. Erika is a bit harsh, short, and insubordinate with the Dreamer about her opinion. Then the Dreamer tries to login to the website to see the options, but his credentials do not work.

Then the Dreamer is outside his grammar school friend Alex’s house and there is a sleep over. The kids look up at the awesome stars. Then the Dreamer’s friend, Pat, says something false and snarky to Alex. Then Pat looks at the Dreamer to corroborate the expression. The Dreamer does not corroborate and Pat gives the Dreamer a look of disappointment.

Then the Dreamer is in line at the airport. He is considering his religious beliefs. Then he is waiting at the gate with his sister and other unknown people. Then the gate agent is checking people in, but the Dreamer does not have his ticket. Then the Dreamer asks the gate agent for his ticket, but she does not have it either. Then the Dreamer is wandering the streets, looking for his ticket. He calls his sister on the phone, but he gets her voicemail. Then she calls him back and he asks where his ticket is: he says she is supposed to have it. She says that she will bring the ticket, but she does not show up.

Then the Dreamer is at the gates of a sports stadium. He is carrying a plastic bag. He does not have a ticket, but he sneaks through the gate. Then he is looking for his sister, who is supposed to have his ticket. Then he is stopped by an agent who asks him what is in the bag. The Dreamer opens the bag, and it is full of mussels. The agent says that the Dreamer can’t have those in the stadium and tells him to go check them in the kitchen.

Then the Dreamer is inside of an unknown home. His friend Rory is there. The Dreamer tells Rory that he does not have time for him. Then Rory has something for the Dreamer, but won’t give it to him because he is not paying attention to him.

Then the Dreamer is outside at a high school event. He pulls up in a red sports car. There is a sign that says the people will be back soon. Then there is a gate. The agent in the booth asks the Dreamer for his ticket, but he does not have one. The agent calls the Principal who says not to let the Dreamer in because the Dreamer has committed some alleged violence.

Feelings: fear (of Erika, of “leaving”, of the principal), deflation (at the sleep-over), transgression (getting in without a ticket, sneaking in mussels).

Interpretation: This is a dream that describes a pattern in the Dreamer’s life; always looking for a way out, always on to the next “big thing”; since he has been a starry eyed little boy he has had this outlook that there must be a better life out there; his father rejected this starry eyedness, but the Dreamer held on to that wandering impulse throughout childhood, middle school, high school, even now. The Dreammaker is suggesting that maybe it is time for the Dreamer to not need to go anywhere, no more “tickets”, for the Dreamer to just accept himself as he is, where he is, now.
