The Man Who Always Smiles
The Dreamer is observing an operation inside of a stadium.
There is a drone being setup for surveillance. The Greek Woman is involved, and there is a Black Man, muscular, also on the scene. The Black Man’s mission is to interfere, he is supposed to seduce the Greek Woman. However, the Greek Woman is not interested in seduction; she is looking for her husband, who she says is a Man Who Always Smiles. The Dreamer doubts that the man always smiles, because the dreamer is thinking of a man who does not always smile, but the Greek Woman insists: my husband is the Man Who Always Smiles. The Black Man who is trying to seduce the Greek Woman is arrogant. He thinks he will be more successful with the Greek Woman if he dips his muscular body in concrete, as if that will increase his chances of seduction.
The Dreamer asks the Greek Woman if he is her husband. She chuckles at the question. No, the Greek Woman says, her husband is a man: the Man Who Always Smiles.
Context: None that I know of, seems a combination and continuation of the motifs in the Stadium Tour and Breakfast Meet Cute dreams
Associations: The Black Man has a great physique, he’s literally chiseled out of stone. I like to work on my physique. I can be arrogant about my appearance.
Feelings: curiosity, arrogance, embarrassment
Interpretation: This is a dream about an attitude toward the animus. This is a return of the Greek Woman motif (from Breakfast Meetcute and The Red Room). The Dreamer thinks that his physique and strength will impress the Greek Woman, but it does not. The Dreamer also thinks that “he” might be the “husband” of the Greek Woman, but she laughs at his boyish arrogance. The Dreammaker is suggesting that the connection with the animus is rather through an archetype that is called in this dream “The Man Who Always Smiles”.
