An Invitation to Create
The Dreamer is inside a house with his friend Ted, his friend’s wife Katja, and their child Eddie. Ted is a Creative person.
The Creative is playing with his family. The Dreamer takes to wandering the house. The Dreamer finds an incense filled black and white room with tall white pillars. In the middle of the room is a pillar with an illustration that displays a Golden Jaguar. There is also a symbol on one of the pillars, of three interlocking triangles. The Dreamer is told by the Creative that the Golden Jaguar is a symbol for him. The Creative communicates that he set up this initiation for the Dreamer. The Creative asks the Dreamer if the Dreamer accepts his invitation to initiation. The Dreamer agrees.
Then the Dreamer is outside, it’s twilight, and it is cold. There’s a big after-party, poolside. There are young people who are passed out from party fatigue. There are some young black people making out on a movie screen. The Dreamer feels repugnance toward that lifestyle. Then the Dreamer is back inside the Creative’s house. The Dreamer is going through a book, then realizes it is a book of pictures that he made. Pencil drawings of skulls, Blakean illustrations, and other esoteric symbols. The Dreamer is surprised that he can draw so well.
Context: I miss my friend Ted, who moved away. We were recently texting. We share a lot of interests, including in spirituality. He always has a creative side project.
Associations: The jaguar is a symbol that I identify with. I like esoteric subjects. I don’t like staying up late. I would like to draw but I don’t think I’m very good at it. I used to love to trace.
Feelings: curiosity, creativity, disgust
Interpretation: The dream is about an attitude toward creative work. The Dreamer could play with the family, or late night party with the youngsters (as seen later), but has a preference for the esoteric. The motifs of “gold letters” and “illustrations” return (from previous dreams — School Spies, The Straight Path, The Two Wise Men). The Dreammaker suggests “jaguar” may be helpful.
