Breakfast Meet Cute

The Dreamer is outside in the parking lot of the strip-mall in his childhood neighborhood.

All of the stores are different now. The Dreamer is hungry. Most of the stores are closed but one is open for breakfast. The Dreamer goes inside the restaurant. There are a lot of bagels and other gluten-containing foods there, but the Dreamer does not want to eat those items. The best thing on offer is some granola, and the Dreamer buys it. The Dreamer wishes there were more options, but that’s it. Then the Dreamer is outside of the breakfast diner and he meets a woman that looks like the Greek Woman from The Red Room. She is the proprietor of the establishment. The Dreamer is curious, attracted, and asks the woman out to dinner. The Greek Woman is coy and says it has to be early. She has responsibilities. It would be too early for the Dreamer, she says. The Dreamer asks her what time. She says they could meet no later than 3:30.

Context: I didn’t eat dinner the night before.

Associations: I associate the old strip-mall with junk food. My Mother had a restaurant in that strip-mall for a short period of time. I worked there. The burgers and fries were good. I’m not currently eating gluten, as a health choice. I find that it upsets my stomach. I like a good breakfast. I’ve also been struggling with indigestion, especially when I eat late at night.

Feelings: hunger, attraction, curiosity

Interpretation: This is a dream about an attitude toward food. The Dreamer wants a good breakfast, something more than granola. The motif of the “Greek Woman” returns: the one with the perfume, “stop and smell the roses”. The Dreammaker suggests through the motif of the Greek Woman that it would be best to eat “no later than 3:30”.
