Stay the Course

The Dreamer is driving outside, during the day, on a foreign European country road with some passengers to get supplies.

The Dreamer is winding up a hill, driving too fast for his passengers. He loses his bearings on where he is going. Now he’s lost. He stops at a farmhouse to ask for directions. He knocks on the door. A well-dressed Old Man answers. Before the Dreamer can ask for directions, the Old Man says that he has something for the Dreamer. The Old Man goes into a closet and pulls out a gun. He says it was used by one of the Lost Founding Fathers. The gun is a strange old pistol with three different colored books attached to the handle. The Dreamer feels a great sense of responsibility. Then the Old Man provides directions: just go straight down the road to find your way back. Then the Dreamer goes outside and sees a Young Man of Arabic descent speed down the road on an ATV. The Young Man does some tricks, but he knows what he’s doing and it’s just for his own entertainment, and he keeps going.

Context: I’m interested in politics, reading some political texts, and fantasizing about the future of politics in America.

Associations: I prefer dangerous, controversial, books over guns or ATVs.

Feelings: thrill, distraction, responsibility
