Lower World

The Fool asked: what is the destiny of the dead in the lower world? How do the spirits of the dead appear in the lower world?

The Wise Old Man showed the Fool the symbols inhabited by the souls of the dead in the lower world:

Symbol 1 — the snake, black diamonds, the sound of gears, felt like a machine, smelled like gunpowder, tasted bitter like metal, the inhabitants were mining the earth
Symbol 2 — the spiral, made of white bone, felt like leather, tasted like fat, smelled like rotting meat, the inhabitants were eating animals
Symbol 3 — the cactus, in the shape of a swastika, sound of the dessert wind, felt like sand in the face, smelled like air hard to breathe, tasted like a fast, the inhabitants were on pilgrimage
Symbol 4 — the turtle, felt slow, sounded like pure vibration, tasted like structured seaweed, smelled like soil, the inhabitants were moving as fast (slow) as they could
